Rally’s Got You Covered

I'm-In-2

You might’ve looked around Rally.org recently and thought: “Something looks different about you, but I can’t put my finger on it.”

Well, dear friend, you possess astute powers of observation. We recently introduced a new feature that combines visual design with social giving by drawing in potential donors with rich, emotional images. Say hello to Covers.

Covers was created to give Rally pages an eye-catching design while at the same time allowing users to update their supporters on their Rally and interact with each other online.  When our data geniuses learned that Rally pages with image-driven content lead to increased supporter engagement and social-media sharing, we decided to make it as easy as possible for all of our users to visually tell their story. Also, we think Covers just look really cool.

Here’s how to start a Rally with the Covers feature:

  1. Go to Rally.org’s landing page and click on the “Start Your Own Rally” button. You’ll be prompted to log in with Facebook or create a user account.
  2. Enter information about your Rally-  name, type, and fundraising goal- and click “Get this Rally Started.”
  3. Fill out your Rally’s pitch by typing in your reason. Then upload a background photo or YouTube video and click “Done.”

If you are already a Rally leader, it’s simple to upgrade to Covers:

  1. Go to Rally.org and login.
  2. Click on the “Covers” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click on the “+” button to create a new cover (if you’ve already created a cover, skip to step 5).
  4. Fill out your Rally’s pitch by typing in your reason. Then upload a background photo or YouTube video and click “Done.”
  5. Click on the “Covers” tab at the top of the page, hover over the cover you just created, and select the checkmark icon to set it as your default cover.
  6. Confirm that you want to mark your cover as default and upgrade to the new Covers experience.

Take a look at the Rally Cover for Global Glimpse as an example. They took the best photos from their old Rally Home Page to create a richer, more dramatic new Cover. And in the spirit of March Madness, check out how the One Percent Foundation tied their fundraising-through-charity brackets with the Cover below.

Covers will enhance your Rally page in many ways.  Rally leaders now have a visually engaging way to attract new supporters. Every Cover page automatically embeds donation forms (the dollar amounts on the right-hand side of the Home Page) within a photo or YouTube video, and supporters will have a unique marker to help them remember their favorite Rallys.

What do you think? We welcome your feedback on Covers and want to know of any other ways you think leaders and users can have a high-quality, engaged experience with Rally.org. Send your thoughts to comments@rally.org.

Thanks and let’s rally!
